BTS World HQ - AFTER

The new headquarters and training facility in Virginia Beach is finally finshed and open for business. The 6-month, $250,000 build-out makes the 28,000 square-foot facility the world’s largest private hand-to-hand & combatives training center. The center includes an extensive combatives area, classrooms, conference rooms, scenario training rooms, a MMA Training area and the largest Crossfit training facility in the US, featuring 20 full Crossfit workstations. Zebra provided us with the best MMA mats around as well as the first ever digi-cam mats. Throwdown Industries custom built and installed a 20 ft cage, custom heavy bag stations and a cage corral. Not pictured is our custom designed “Fight-house” to be used with HIGH GEAR during realistic scenario based training. UFC stars BJ Penn and Joe Lauzon have already visited. We have plans to bring in several elite MMA stars to share their training secrets with our military & law enforcement friends.

UK Summer Camp

The first summer camp was held on Saturday, August 2nd through to Sunday, August 3rd, 2008 in Edinburgh, Scotland. Over 50 students from all over Europe were treated to an intensive weekend of training. All learned the scientific drills and skills of Personal Defense Readiness™. They were also treated to a combat calisthenics session as well as a High Gear™ demonstration.

The second summer camp was held on Friday, August 15th through Sunday, August 17th, 2008 in Virginia Beach, VA at the state-of-the-art BTS Training Center. This was the largest summer camp yet with over 100 participants learning the fundamentals of the S.P.E.A.R. System™. Read the rest of this entry »

Chapel Hill, NC
The Chapel Hill event was taught by Tom and Dana Arcuri and was organized in less than a month by PDR Coaches Anny and Jake Jacoby, and they did an excellent job. It was a women’s only event with 25 motivated first timers who did an outstanding job. My thanks also goes to PDR Coach Bert Walker for his assistance. This course was organized in memory of Ira Yarmolenko who recently lost her life to violence. The entire BTS team sends it’s condolences to Pavel and her entire family and will continue to educate the public to help prevent further such incidents. Read the rest of this entry »

After many years of hard work by Sgt Kevin Lehan, of Carlsbad PD, the S.P.E.A.R. System Instructor Development course was POST approved in the state of California. This led to the largest BTS class ever held in the US. 42 students from all across the state, members of the US Military, and federal law enforcement agents attended this historic class. Participants learned the science and research behind the SPEAR System as well as the drills and skills necessary to coach others in the system’s unique counter ambush tactics.

Due to the tremendous success of this course another has already been scheduled for September 1-5 of this year.
